Monica S. Eigelberger, MD FACS is board certified in general surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a graduate of the University of Missouri-School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at the UCSF-East Bay General Surgery program in 2004 and has been in practice in Walnut Creek since that time. During her residency she spent two years studying thyroid cancer in the laboratory of Orlo Clark, MD at UCSF. While in practice, she has taken a major interest in the use of ultrasound in breast and thyroid disease for diagnostic and procedural purposes. She is one of a few surgeons in Northern California certified by the American Society of Breast Surgeons in breast ultrasound. While she practices the entire spectrum of general surgery, her major interest is breast surgery as well as thyroid and minimally invasive surgery. She performs most of her own breast and thyroid biopsies in the office. She is a standing member of the John Muir Breast Tumor Board and the GI Tumor Board. |

Steven M. Young, MD FACS is Board Certified in General Surgery, and has completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He was awarded the “Outstanding Teacher and Clinician in the field of General Surgery” during residency. During his fellowship he has helped instruct numerous surgeons across the nation in learning laparoscopic skills, produced multiple video presentations and abstracts related to medical simulation and laparoscopic training, and has given talks in bariatrics and laparoscopy. Dr. Young practices the full spectrum of general surgery including trauma, wound care, and emergency room coverage with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Young currently serves as the medical director for the John Muir Wound Care Center. |

Michael S. Baker, MD FACS has practiced for more than 20 years in Contra Costa County. He is board certified in General Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and has completed a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery. Dr. Baker is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at John Muir Hospital and is active in the trauma surgery program. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and is a Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy (retired).

Walnut Creek Surgical Associates practice the full spectrum of surgery: breast problems, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, thyroid surgery, cancer, gastrointestinal operations including for colon cancer and GERD, varicose veins, and skin cancer. We have experience with melanoma, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and complex wound management. We have incorporated ultrasound and vacuum assisted mammotome biopsy into our office practice so that breast and thyroid lesions can be conveniently diagnosed and quickly treated. |

Charleen Kim Lee, MD is a graduate of Saint Louis University - School of Medicine, and joined the practice after her residency at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, California. During residency, she was recognized as the "Jack H. Bloch, Surgical Resident of the Year". Her interest in general surgery stems from the variety of cases that she is privileged to perform. In particular, she has had extensive training in laparoscopic and complex surgery for trauma and other serious conditions. She is also fluent in Spanish and Korean. |
